About Us

The Advanced Laser Training Institute was originated because of a serious need for advanced laser education that goes beyond your basic training and your first year of  practical use.  Dr. Larry Lieberman and Dr. J Terry Alford (primary instructors at the institute) has evolved  from over time from  the early  days of diodes, the 1064 millennium, the Er:YSGG from Biolase and numerous other manufactures where they had to teach themselves  the ins and outs of laser action on tissue. The training they received was often incomplete at best and lacked standardization.  As the Laser world grew with more doctors incorporating lasers into their practice it became apparent that what was falling behind was not the sales of these machines and the incredible benefit they can be to the practices and the patients but the education necessary to safely and correctly perform laser procedures. More sophisticated lasers like the Fotona LightWalker became the norm and along with their capabilities more and more procedures become possible. Even today new protocols and benefits are discovered as we continue to learn the many things that can be incorporated into today’s modern dental practice. 

Every day we learn just how much more these lasers can do. The Advanced Laser Training Institute has standardized the education of these advanced procedures using the “guideline for laser education” and the protocols in place by the Academy of Laser Dentistry in order for you to perform these procedures in a safe and efficient manner. Nothing is more important than the safety of your patient. 

As an added bonus we often have guest educators that are experts in their fields.  An example is we have had Dr. Val Kanter here twice discussing Endodontic application and presenting her finding on the use of PRF and Laser for Pulp regeneration. We have also had  Dr. Rick Miron (top 100 educators in the world) on the Laser and its effects with PRF administration and facial rejuvenation.  Also Dr. Andy Cohen with insights on Sleep Medicine and the incorporation of the Er:YAG with the Nightlase protocol for Sleep Disordered Breathing.   Our plans are to continue these guest speakers.  Recently we had  Dr. Peter Chen , endodontist with his insights on the use of OZONE with Fotona SWEEPS application and Dr. Val Kanter again with her ever progressive approach to pulp regeneration with the laser and PRF.  They will educate us on the newest and greatest Fotona Lightwalker applications. 

Meet your Instructors

DR. LARRY LIEBERMAN

Dr. Lieberman has been practicing dentistry for 38 Years. He graduated from NYU in 1982 and since then devoted himself to obtaining all the continuing education possible to increase his knowledge and provide cutting edge dentistry to all his patients. Right out of dental school he recognized the need to elevate his education and enrolled into a General Practice Residency program at Bergen Pines County Hospital. His accomplishments are very impressive. He is a founding member of the FACD, ICIO-Fellow, Graduate of the Pankey Institute of Dental Excellence, the Misch Institute of Implantology, and a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is a member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry where he has presented and lectures at the national symposium annually. His thirst for education continues to motivate him as he has been certified in the Millennium ND:YAG, the Er;YSGG, The ER;YAG and the Diode laser wavelengths. He is a devoted teacher as he donates his time to the University of Florida College of Dental Medicine where he teaches Cosmetic Dentistry and imparts invaluable knowledge to our dentist of the future. He is also a Master Instructor with the Advanced Laser Training Institute where is a principle lecturer and clinical evaluator and instructor in advanced dental and cosmetic applications. An incredibly passionate dentist who gives back to dentistry.

Dr. J Terry Alford

Dr. Alford’s original profession wasn’t dentistry. He was a USAF pilot during the Viet Nam war where he received two air medals. He considers his greatest accomplishment to be the awarding of his USAF wings. After his military career he attended the University of Alabama, School of Dentistry graduating in 1978 with honors and was voted into the National Honor Dental Society (OKU). His entire career in dentistry has been to seek out the best in continuing education, including Pankey, Dawson, Branemark, Piper, and facial aesthetics training with the International Academy of Facial Aesthetics. He is a member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry and recently was awarded with admission to the Certified Speakers Bureau of the ALD. He also teaches Facial Anatomy and Cadaver Dissection with application of Injectable fillers, vascular complications and advanced laser cosmetic procedures at the International Academy of Facial Aesthetics. . His affiliation with lasers began in the 1990’s where he helped co-develop the laser whitening process with Dr. David Yarborough utilizing the CO2 , and Argon Lasers. He was awarded master in laser dentistry from the World Clinical Laser Institute utilizing the ER:YSGG wavelength and the 940nm Diode. Lasers are becoming the standard of care and Dr. Alford has positioned himself at the forefront of this technology. He enjoys teaching and sharing his knowledge of these new technologies with like minded professionals. He is a co-founder of the Advanced Laser Training Institute where he lectures and teaches the latest protocols in Non– surgical laser applications in Advanced Cosmetics.
